This topic appeared to be very confusing when I was researching on how to go about this. There are a few blogs online which helped me but were incomplete so I went into the Chinese Resources Building in Wanchai, Hong Kong unsure if what I had with me was enough. Here’s how I went through this process, I hope it helps answers some of your questions.
…And all in the space of a week! We headed over to Koh Samui for a very quick island trip with zero expectations. Flew down from Bangkok to Surat Thani (30 quid return), hopped on a coach and then jumped on a ferry to soak ourselves in a couple of days of leisurely beach and partying time. It took me a long time to realise that I was actually leaving home. My friends, my family, my job and everything ‘normal’ that comes with it. All that time spent researching the cities I want to explore, the numerous Amazon orders for bits and bobs I learned would be useful, the strenuous task of finding a suitable backpack (very important, more on this in a later post), the dreaming and the conversations I would have about my future adventure all made it seem like my journey was in the far distant future.
